UNIVERSITIES

The PI and co-PIs on the Accelerating Pine Genomics (APG) project represent three universities/university systems; specifically, Mississippi State University (Peterson and Nelson), Clemson University (Tomkins and Main), and Texas A&M University (Islam-Faridi).

LABORATORIES/INSTITUTES

Research at Mississippi State University is being conducted at the Mississippi Genome Exploration Laboratory (MGEL) while research at Clemson University is conducted at the Clemson University Genomics Institute (CUGI).  Although the USDA Forest Service (USFS) is not an official participant in this award, two of the co-PIs, Nelson and Islam-Faridi, are employed by the USFS's Southern Institute of Forest Genetics (SIFG); Nelson and Islam-Faridi are serving as co-PIs through adjunct faculty appointments at MS State and Texas A&M, respectively.  However, SIFG has graciously donated both Dr. Nelson's and Dr. Islam-Faridi's time on the APG project as well as facilitating research on DBI-0421717 by providing lab space and equipment funds for Dr. Islam-Faridi.

COLLABORATING INSTITUTIONS

454 pyrosequencing for the APG project is being performed by Dr. John E. Carlson's Laboratory at Pennsylvania State University (see DNA Sequences).  Tougaloo College and Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) are key players in the outreach and training components of DBI-0421717 (see Promoting Diversity).
