A major goal of the APG project is the construction of a 10X bacterial artificial chromosome library for the loblolly pine genotype "7-56."  The first 3X portion of the library should be completed by June 1, 2006 whereupon two copies will be sent to the Clemson University Genomics Institute (CUGI), the official distributor of the pine BAC library and its associated products.  After its arrival at CUGI, the 3X library, individual clones, and macroarrays will be available for purchase from CUGI on a "cost-recovery" basis.  The MGEL staff will continue expanding the library and will send new clones to CUGI in 2X genome equivalent increments.  It is anticipated that the complete 10X library will be available by January 2007.  Of note, the 10X loblolly pine BAC library will be the largest BAC library ever made with 1.7 - 2.0 million individually archived clones!
